As an accessory, the purses seemed to make the ladies even more attractive. Now, this type of handbag has become a symbol of vintage stylish elegance.

Because the rim around the opening of this type of handbag is made of gold colored metal, as is the lock clasp, so this type of bag is called a Gold Rimmed Handbag. Many Six Arts Members and their children attended this fun activity of making their very own Gold Rimmed Handbag in the Six Arts Museum’s Handicraft Center.

After receiving their handbag sewing project materials, the participants listened carefully to teacher Yenzi’s instructions, and then the parents helped their children to learn to use the needles and thread to sew the bags.
穿针引线就是第一关
小朋友们有模有样
学着大人的样子抿线穿针
也享受着穿针成功后的喜悦
The first step in the sewing process is to thread the needle, a skill which the children learned on the spot from their parents. Everyone shared the children’s joy whenever they were able to successfully thread their needle.

A traditional patterned satin fabric was used for the handbag fabric, making the Gold Rimmed Handbags appear vintage as well stylish and elegant. Hopefully participants can wear traditional Chinese clothes to match the elegant handmade handbags next time.
