From the construction of wooden buildings, to the making of furniture and all types of household and other daily use items, wood has been closely linked to people’s lives.

The Chinese affection for wood stems from the fact that wood originates from Mother Nature, which closely aligns with the Chinese people’s pursuit of man’s living in harmony with nature. Ancient people even considered wood to be the source of life.

The ancient Chinese believed that nature is composed of five elements, namely Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth. Wood was regarded as the dominate element of the Orient, and the foundation of the rules of heaven and earth. Wood also represents the Spring as well as continuous reproduction and growth in nature.
