On the eve of this year’s International Museum Day, Six Arts Museum welcomed a special cross-cultural exploration group: “Album of Suzhou,” with over 20 international friends visiting and experiencing our “Six Arts · Adventure Mini Golf” (Chuiwan) activity firsthand.

Founded in 2016, “Album of Suzhou” has stayed true to one mission — helping foreign residents deeply connect with Suzhou’s rich history and culture. Founder Patrick Qu describes their goal: “We want to help foreigners living here find a sense of belonging and share the beauty of Suzhou.” That’s precisely what Six Arts Museum stands for — culture doesn’t need translation, just honest connection.

This year’s theme for International Museum Day is “Museums Uniting a Divided World,” and Six Arts is exactly that — a bridge. Our founder, Mitch Dudek, an American who has lived in China for over four decades, has traveled across the country collecting over 100,000 traditional folk artifacts. Now, these treasures are alive here, accessible and tangible — no glass barriers, just touch, feel, and truly experience. True communication begins at the fingertips and reaches the heart.

Led by Patrick Qu, the group stepped into Six Arts Museum, opening medicine cabinets and smelling the herbal fragrances, gently touching the textured wood of antique furniture, and getting up close to painted door gods… Cecilia, a Filipino faculty member at Suzhou University, remarked, “The anonymous artisans behind each piece enable us to touch, smell, and truly experience their remarkable craftsmanship.” Ms. Ji, the section chief of Suzhou Zoo, shared on social media, “This museum doesn’t have ‘Just look and don't touch’ rules. Every step encourages interaction and engagement.” Evans from the U.S. expressed, “the five hours I enjoyed exploring Six Arts Museum with Album of Suzhou this weekend were an awe-inspiring experience.”

After trying the top-floor “Six Arts · Adventure Mini Golf” (Chuiwan), Ana from the U.S. said, “This mini golf course reminded me of home. My family loves playing mini-golf back in the States. Six Arts is one of the best museums I’ve visited — the collections are incredible, and I’ll definitely be back!”

Laura from the U.S. summed it up nicely: “So much art, beauty, and culture… I love this kind of display!” That day also marked the second day of our “Six Arts Market Festival,” where museum stalls, immersive exhibits, and the playful spirit of “Six Arts · Adventure Mini Golf” (Chuiwan) all flowed naturally — illustrating that culture is best when shared openly.

When a nonprofit association keeps building bridges, and a museum chooses to break down glass, the distance between the world and Suzhou shrinks into something gentle — just a simple touch. Six Arts is waiting for you to experience it.
