On June 21, 2022, Prof. Zhang Pengchuan, the doctoral supervisor from Suzhou University, and his wife visited the Six Arts Museum together with Mr. Gu Yonghua, Entrepreneur, Collector, and Mr. Ji Jianping, Director of China Collectors Association, accompanied by Mr. Li Haimin, Consultant of Lili Development and Preservation Office, and Ms. He Zheng, Curator of Xu Beihong Art Gallery. Prof. Zhang Pengchuan is also former Curator of Gansu Provincial Museum and former Curator of Suzhou University Museum.

张朋川教授
1942年出生于一个艺术世家
父亲是学绘画的
母亲搞雕塑设计和创作
著名诗人艾青是他的舅舅
从小受到艺术熏陶，对绘画极具天赋
1965年毕业于中央工艺美术学院
装潢美术系壁画专业后
进入甘肃省博物馆
之后，参与与主持了多项著名的考古工作
并担任甘肃省博物馆副馆长、研究员
Prof. Zhang Pengchuan was born into an artists’ family in 1942, with his father engaging in painting and his mother sculpting. His uncle is Ai Qing, the famous poet. Brought up in such an artistic atmosphere, he is extremely talented in painting.
After graduating in Mural Painting from the Academy of Arts & Design in 1965, Prof. Zhang Pengchuan worked in Gansu Provincial Museum. He participated in and also took charge of quite a few famous archaeological projects, and worked as Deputy Curator and Researcher of Gansu Provincial Museum.

In 2000, Prof. Zhang Pengchuan took up his post as doctoral supervisor of Design and Art of Suzhou University. Moreover, he prepared for the opening of the Suzhou University Museum, and worked as the curator. His published academic work includes Pictorial Analysis of Night Revels of Han Xizai and A collection of Chinese painted pottery.
In 2019, Prof. Zhang Pengchuan was invited by CCTV (China Central Television) to join a TV program and introduce to the audience a 5000-year-old human figure shaped pottery vase. Prof. Zhang Pengchuan has spared no effort to devote himself to his careers from painting to archeology, and then to art history and theory.

参观了六悦博物馆四层五十几个展馆
八十岁的张教授一刻也没有停歇
笑称自己曾经做了大量的田野考古工作
并且这样的细致参观也是对博物馆的尊重
80-year-old Prof. Zhang Pengchuan spent three hours visiting over 50 galleries on all four floors of the Six Arts Museum without a break and said that his meticulous visit represented his respect to the museum since he used to often work at archaeological sites.

During the visit, Prof. Zhang Pengchuan, as well as Mr. Gu Yonghua and Mr. Ji Jianping, proposed many professional suggestions and commented on the exhibits on display based on their vast experience and perspectives.

Prof. Zhang Pengchuan was warmly received by Mr. Mitch Dudek, Founder of the Six Arts Museum, and Mr. Jason Chen, Curator of the Six Arts Museum. They had a warm talk after the visit and Prof. Zhang Pengchuan said that the Six Arts Museum is “people-friendly”, which is of great importance and value to a museum.
