United by their shared passion for flowers, enthusiasts recently converged at the Six Arts Museum to participate in a high level flower arrangement class that helped to sooth their souls and calm their emotions. This class allowed them to appreciate Zen aesthetics, uphold traditional culture, and ultimately, enjoy a tremendously unique artistic experience.

This event, led by Ms. Liu Minghua, the leader of the Zen Flower Gate, started with a flower arrangement class from Zen Flower Gate at the Six Arts Handicraft Workshop in the Six Arts Museum.

新成立的中国花道传统艺术流派
2018年5月5日创立于广西南宁，禅花门既不是行业组织，也不同于民间组织，是国内首创类似于家族制且不受家族局限的传统艺术流派，面向社会，广开门路，大力吸收同道中人，以开启中国花道流派的新纪元。成立五年以来，禅花门在全国各地及海外地区推广中国传统插花艺术，出版系列专业书籍与培训教材，举办大型插花艺术展，为插花爱好者相互交流与共同精进搭建平台。目前国内已有二十余个分部，形成了一定的影响力。
Zen Flower Gate is a newly established traditional Chinese flower art school.
Founded on May 5, 2018, in Nanning, Guangxi Province, Zen Flower Gate is neither an industry organization nor a grassroots organization. It is the first traditional art school in China to resemble a family system without being limited by it. It is open to society, welcoming like-minded individuals to herald a new era for Chinese floral art schools. In the five years since its establishment, Zen Flower Gate has promoted traditional Chinese flower arrangement art across the country and overseas, published a series of professional books and training materials, held large-scale flower arrangement art exhibitions, and built a platform for flower enthusiasts to exchange and improve together. Currently, it has more than twenty branches, giving it an influential position in traditional flower arrangement.

上海插花协会学术研究前副主任兼秘书长、海派插花传承人、上海禅艺会副会长、禅艺插花研修班教师、日本池坊圣流教授、中国花卉盆景杂志特约撰稿人，先后出版有《禅艺插花》《历代插花》《中国茶道插花》《花卉组合布景及养护》《家庭插花艺术》《插花员初级教程图解》等专业著作。
Ms. Liu Minghua, the leader of Zen Flower Gate, is the former Deputy Director of Academic Research and Secretary-General of the Shanghai Flower Arrangement Association, a successor of Shanghai School flower arrangement, Vice President of Shanghai Zen Art Association, a teacher of Zen Art Flower Arrangement Research Class, a professor of Ikenobo in Japan, and a special contributor to China Flower and Bonsai Magazine. She has published several professional works, including 'Zen Art Flower Arrangement', 'Flower Arrangements Through the Ages', 'Chinese Tea Ceremony Flower Arrangement', 'Flower Combination Layout and Maintenance', 'Home Flower Arrangement Art', 'Illustrated Beginner's Course for Flower Arrangers', among others.

Under the artistic atmosphere of the Six Arts Handicraft Workshop, the students listened carefully to Ms. Liu Minghua's lecture, while tasting carefully brewed floral tea and experiencing the making of Zen flower arrangements.

Zen flower arrangement originated in the late Ming Dynasty, and falls intothe category of religious flower arrangement in traditional Chinese flower arrangement categorization according to its lifestyle classification. It not only has the general characteristics of traditional flower arrangement but also has its own unique style.

In the course, the students used a few simple and elegant flowers, and even the mooncake boxes around them were used as flower vases. All of these follow the ten principles of Zen Flower Gate: simplicity is elegance, complexity is taboo, waste is useful... This is in perfect harmony with the environmental protection philosophy of Six Arts Museum.

The completed Zen flower arrangements were integrated into specially chosen locations in the Six Arts Culture Park, which marked the end of the flower arrangement course.
