Teachers and students majoring in Ethnic Arts in Suzhou Art & Design Technology Institute’s Academy of Fine Arts visited the Six Arts Museum on the morning of February 14, 2023. Their visit gave the students an opportunity to experience and appreciate the rich artistic atmosphere, and discover the multi-faceted ethnic folk art and aesthetics, found in the Six Arts Museum.

Professor Chen Ping, the director of the Ethnic Art Department of the Academy of Fine Arts, and Professor Jiang Haiyan, led the group, and along with senior Six Arts Museum tour guides, they provided an opportunity for the students to carefully and in detail visit and study the multi-faceted ethnic arts found throughout the museum.

The Six Arts Museum exhibits a very large number of folk art pieces, each of which represents the meticulous artistic creative work of a local folk artisan. The exhibits integrate national artistic characteristics with local / regional ethnic artistic characteristics and culture, providing students with valuable reference materials to study.

The authentic sensory folk art experience of viewing the Six Arts Museum gave many of the students even greater inspiration to pursue their future art creation and design pursuits. The folk art exhibits displayed in the Six Arts Museum, combined with the theoretical knowledge learned at the Academy of Fine Arts, provided a solid foundation upon which the students’ could learn from this special art tour.
