In the interview, Mitch, founder of the Six Arts Museum, shared why he chose to establish the museum in Suzhou’s Lili Ancient Town. For him, the peaceful water town felt like returning to his rural hometown in the United States. With its deep cultural heritage and artistic spirit, Suzhou became the ideal place to showcase traditional Chinese folk art. He expressed that it was not he who chose Suzhou, but Suzhou that chose him.

Mitch emphasized that true connections among people do not come from geography or policy, but from the neighborly spirit of mutual support and shared humanity. At the museum, everyday objects such as chairs, tables, and window panels allow visitors from different backgrounds to find both familiarity and discovery.

He explained that “Six Arts” represents joy through all six senses. With no glass barriers, the museum encourages visitors to touch, open, and interact with artefacts, even to smell traditional herbs. He concluded the interview with one word: “Interconnected.” Although the future may be uncertain, he believes art and culture will always keep people connected around the world.
