The beautiful decorative wood carvings in the Six Arts Museum come from all across the country. Interestingly, while wood structures were designed primarily for rain and sun protection, their decorative carvings showcased the owner's vision, wealth and social status.

Photos 2-9 depict "Continuous Top Scholar.” In ancient times, crabs symbolized success in the imperial examination system due to their hard shells (academic success), and tight claw grip (imperial scholar list attainment and unexpected financial gains).
Photos 10-18 shows “Treasure Duck With Lotus,” which symbolizes top scholar continuous success.
