初一贺新岁,初二回娘家

初三赤狗日,初四迎灶神

新年的热闹气氛一直在延续

到了初五就该接财神

Chinese New Year celebrations feature different customs on specific days.

On the first day of the New Year, people give best wishes to each other.

On the second day, wives go to their parents’ home.

On the third day, people tend to have arguments so they usually stay home.

The fourth day is the time to greet the Kitchen God while the fifth day is the time to greet the God of Fortune.

财神赵公明

The God of Fortune, Zhao Gongming

接财神

是中国民间古来的传统节日风俗

传说正月初五财神的生日

各家各户置办酒席,准备鞭炮

可以说是大年初一过后最重要的活动了

It is said that the fifth day of the first lunar month is the birthday of the God of Fortune, for which Chinese families prepare a big feast and firecrackers.

The custom of greeting the God of Fortune has existed since ancient times.

It is the most important New Year celebration after the first day.

认为接的财神是正财神赵公明

作为道教护法四帅之一

主要被作为财神来供奉

The God of Fortune greeted on the fifth day of the first lunar month is thought to be Zhao Gongming, one of the Four Protectors of Taoism.

六悦博物馆有不少赵公明造像

赵公明浓眉大眼,留着长胡须

头戴黑高帽,身着戎装

他的黑虎坐骑特别显眼

There are quite a few statues of Zhao Gongming in the Six Arts Museum.

Zhao Gongming is characterized by big eyes, thick eye brows and a long beard.

In black hat and military uniform, he rides a conspicuous black tiger.

关公
Guan Gong, a famous general from the Three Kingdoms

关公被称为武财神

在《三国演义》中的形象善于理财

并且重义气、讲信用

因此特别受到生意人的追崇

Guan Gong, a famous general from the Three Kingdoms, is referred to are known as the Martial God of Fortune. He was honest and reliable and good at managing wealth in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, making him very popular among Chinese merchants.

福禄寿三星

The God of Prosperity (禄[lù]), together with

the God of Luck (福[fú]) and Longevity (寿[shòu])

福禄寿三星中的禄星

身穿大红官服,头戴高冠,或骑梅花鹿

是掌管文运利禄的神灵

象征高官厚禄,是财神也是文神

The God of Prosperity (禄[lù]), together with the God of Luck (福[fú]) and Longevity (寿[shòu]) as ” the Three Stars”, often appear in red official uniforms and tall crowns, or riding a deer.

In Chinese language, 禄 also means the “official’s salary” so the God of Prosperity also symbolizes a successful political career.

刘海戏金蟾

Liu Hai playing with a toad

“刘海戏金蟾”的故事家喻户晓

其中的金蟾是一只三足青蛙

传说能够口吐金币,古时认为得之可致富

因此也被当做财神

In the well-known legend of Liu Hai playing with a toad, the toad features three legs and is said to be able to spit gold coins.

In ancient times, whoever owned the three-footed toad would have access to great fortune.

So Liu Hai is also considered the God of Fortune.

借着六悦博物馆的这几位财神
