11月8日，六悦博物馆迎来了一场特殊的时光之旅——《中国·1980》摄影展与迈克·埃默里的VIP之旅。澳大利亚摄影师迈克·埃默里先生亲临现场，与策展人杜维明先生展开圆桌深度对谈，带领观众穿越四十余载光阴，重温那个质朴而充满生机的年代。
On November 8, Six Arts Museum hosted a unique journey back in time with “China · 1980” Photo Exhibition and a VIP tour featuring Australian photographer Mike Emery. Emery joined curator Mitch Dudek for an in-depth round table discussion, taking visitors back over 40 years to revisit that vibrant and authentic era.
在圆桌讨论开始时，摄影展策展人杜维明在开幕致辞中动情地说道：“这些照片不仅是时代记录，更是连接过去与现在的文化桥梁。”随后，摄影师迈克·埃默里分享了他的创作心路——1980年春天，这位23岁的澳大利亚青年用尼康手动相机和富士胶片，将镜头对准寻常巷陌，以充满温度的视角留存了改革开放初期的中国记忆。
At the start of the round table discussion, photo exhibition curator Mitch Dudek passionately remarked, “These photos are more than historical records; they are cultural bridges connecting past and present.” Photographer Mike Emery then shared his creative journey. In the spring of 1980, at just 23, Emery captured everyday life in China’s early reform era using a Nikon manual camera and Fuji film, preserving memories with a warm perspective.

The event was attended by Lili Ancient Preservation Office Director Mr. Ren Sujun, Deputy Director Mr. Wu Bin, along with other officials and media representatives.
在圆桌讨论环节，迈克先生娓娓道来每张照片背后的故事。当谈到外白渡桥上滑旱冰的外国青年与围观市民的经典画面时，他眼中依然闪烁着感动：“这种文化相遇的瞬间，正是中国改革开放初期最动人的注脚。”策展人杜维明则从文化传承角度解读，指出这些影像与六悦博物馆珍藏的民间艺术形成了跨越时空的对话。
During the roundtable discussion, Mike Emery shared the stories behind each photo. Reflecting on the iconic image of foreigners roller-skating on the Waibaidu Bridge amidst local onlookers, he noted with emotion, “These moments of cultural encounter perfectly capture the essence of early reform-era China.” Curator Mitch Dudek added depth by interpreting these images as a timeless dialogue with Six Arts Museum’s collection of folk art.
在摄影师亲自导览的VIP观展环节，观众们跟随着迈克先生的脚步，在数十幅彩色影像前驻足沉思。不少银发长者指着照片中的二八大杠、街头食摊，向孙辈讲述往昔岁月；年轻游客则举着手机，记录下这些陌生又亲切的历史瞬间。特别设置的复古报纸摄影区更是排起长队，观众们通过沉浸式体验，感受着上世纪80年代的独特韵味。
During the VIP tour led by photographer Mike Emery, guests paused to reflect on dozens of vibrant images. Many older visitors pointed out familiar bicycles and street food stalls, sharing stories of the past with their grandchildren. Meanwhile, young attendees captured these nostalgic yet fresh moments with their phones. The specially set-up vintage newspaper photo area was a hit, with lines forming as people immersed themselves in the unique charm of the 1980s.
活动尾声的书籍签售环节气氛热烈，迈克先生为每位观众认真签名留念。一位专程从上海赶来的朱先生感慨道：“照片里黄浦江边的烟囱，如今已被陆家嘴的天际线取代，这些影像让我们更懂得珍惜当下。”、
The event concluded with a lively book signing session, where Mike Emery carefully signed copies for each attendee. Mr. Zhu, who traveled from Shanghai, remarked, “The smokestacks along the Huangpu River in these photos have been replaced by the Lujiazui skyline. These images remind us to cherish the present.”
